More About Us

Thurston First Electrical is a family firm based on St. Saviours Road in Coley Park. Barry Thurston runs it and works on the tools alongside the team, covering Reading and the villages around it — Caversham, Tilehurst, Earley, Woodley, Whitley, Southcote, Shinfield, Twyford, Pangbourne and plenty more besides. Most of our work is for homeowners, along with landlords and the odd local club or shop.

A lot of it is new space. Garden rooms, garage conversions, extensions — rooms that didn't exist six months ago and need their own supply, their own protection and their own certificate. That work wants designing at the start rather than retro-fitting once the plasterboard's up, so we'd rather come and look early. Smaller jobs are just as welcome: an extra socket, an outside light, tired faceplates swapped for something decent.

You get a written price before we start, and that's the price. If something turns up behind the plaster that changes it, you hear about it from us before we carry on. Our workmanship is guaranteed for as long as the manufacturer's warranty runs on the parts we've fitted, so the labour doesn't run out before the product does. And if something needs looking at again after we've packed up, we come back and sort it.
